Frederick L. Stemler, 82, of 308 White St., Bowmanstown, died Sunday in his home. He was the husband of Helen E. (Heintzelman) Stemler. They observed their 57th wedding anniversary last Dec. 6.  He retired as a supervisor from Mack Trucks Inc., Allentown, in 1983, and previously was an auto mechanic for his uncle's business, the former Stemler-Buick Motor Co., Palmerton, for many years. Before that, he was a laborer for the former New Jersey Zinc Co., Palmerton.  Born in Bowmanstown, he was a son of the late Robert W. and Esther M. (Kuehn) Stemler.  He was a life member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ, Bowmanstown.  Stemler was a 1939 graduate of Palmerton High School.  He and his deceased twin brother, Edward B., made Eagle Scout in Troop 47, Bowmanstown, in 1939.  The deceased was a 32nd degree Mason and member of the F. & A.M. Lodge, Lehighton, the Valley of Lehigh-Lehigh Consistory, Allentown, and Hiram Temple Shrine, Wilkes-Barre.  He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, having served with the 669th Bombardment Squadron in the European Theater of Operations (Normandy, Rhine and Ardennes). He was a recipient of a Bronze Star and attained the rank of technical sergeant.  Surviving in addition to his widow are two daughters, Barbara L., wife of Alfred Wiemann of Northampton, and Janet Weaver of King of Prussia; a son Gerald of Perkasie; a brother Clair of Bowmanstown; a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Snyder of Peoria, Ariz.; and six grandchildren.  The Campton Funeral Home, 525 Delaware Ave., Palmerton, is in charge of the arrangements.
