Daniel Miller Brown

SSgt, Turret Gunner, KIA 12/25/1944

SSgt Daniel M. Brown was flying as turret gunner with Captain Prentiss (P) and Lt. Burseil (BN) in the lead ship of Box I on Christmas Day, 1944. The target was Hillsheim, Belgium during the Battle of the Bulge. Sergeant Brown had recently written home that he had been named gunner's chief of the 668th. This was his 50th and would have been his last mission. The flight took heavy flak with all three of the lead planes going down without survivors. Sergeant Brown was a graduate of the high school class of 1938 at Lakewood, Ohio.
